Why Do We Like The Vivitar 285HV Flash?
The Vivitar 285HV, has been a staple of off-camera lighting for more than a generation. It's a workhorse. The newer model flashes have become more computerized, with TTL functions and wireless IR capability, but they also have price tags to match, heading north of $350 each. We've found the IR technology undependable. The line of sight trigger just wasn't optimal and on countless occasions, someone would walk between the signal, and the shot was lost. The Vivitar 285HV has all the features one could want with a price tag of under $100 brand new! The vivitar combined with a pocket wizard's IF technology gave us 100% relibility.
